INSIDE ANGINE DE POITRINE’S SOLD-OUT NIGHT OF MICROTONAL MAYHEM IN RENNES
Angine de Poitrine brought their sold-out world tour to L'Ubu in Rennes, France last night, turning the room into a churning, triangle-saluting frenzy of microtonal math rock and pure, giddy chaos. The Saguenay, Quebec duo — masked, papier-mâché-headed space-time travelers armed with double-neck microtonal guitar and drums — have become one of the year’s most relentless live forces since their KEXP session broke out earlier this year, now sitting at over fourteen million views. Their sophomore record Vol. II arrived April 3. The European run continues tonight in Le Mans before moving through Amiens, Charleroi, Poitiers, La Rochelle, Brussels, Tourcoing, and beyond, with all dates already sold out.
