Released in 1994, Danzig 4 marks the final time metal’s “Evil Elvis” would croon alongside his eponymous outfit’s classic lineup of guitarist John Christ, bassist Eerie Von and drummer Chuck Biscuits. While still rooted in carnal gloom-blues (“Little Whip”) and Castrol-glugging moto-metal (“Brand New God”), 4 also finds the group getting extra experimental on tracks like “Cantspeak,” which oozes through the speakers with concentric guitar loops, distortion-blown moans and seedy, sensual synth blips. Horny nighttime music for metal heathens of all kinds, Danzig 4 is back on vinyl for the first time in thirty years.
