If you think Metallica’s …And Justice for All is progged-out thrash, just wait until you hear Nothingface. The fifth LP from Quebec’s Voivod is somehow the Canuck weirdos’s most commercially successful effort (peaking at No. 114 on the Billboard 200), but the album is a bona fide brain-scrambler that prominently features a cover of Pink Floyd’s "Astronomy Domine” and draws direct influence from Stravinksy’s “Rite of Spring.” It’s a landmark in the world of progressive thrash-metal, and therefore one you need to own.
