VARIANT: Expanded Edition 180 Gram Vinyl LP

Ministry’s legacy-cementing fifth album remains a sacred, if screeching industrial-metal must-hear. Produced through a period of personal darkness — trash-mangled standout opener “Just One Fix,” in particular, reflected founder Al Jourgensen’s struggles with drug addiction — Psalm 69 is an all-grit effort marked with black metal-esque extremism (“TV II”) and slow-churned terror-scaping (“Scare Crow”). Guitarist Mike Scaccia contributes psyche-piercing thrash licks, while Butthole Surfers vocalist Gibby Haynes memorably scat-attacks his lines on “Jesus Built My Hotrod.” This expanded, 180-gram double LP brings together the album’s original Psalms with bonus tracks, remixes and more.
