THE SMASHING PUMPKINS 'MACHINA' 2LP (25th Anniversary Edition)

LABEL: Virgin Records Us
VINYL RELEASE DATE: 08/22/2025
ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE: 2000
VARIANT: 25th Anniversary Edition, Black Vinyl 2LP

Underrated but not understated, Smashing Pumpkins’ first album of the 21st century is a boldly ambitious effort from the Chicago-bred rockers, who advance their amp-bursting cause with a mix of nastily-metallic riff-outs (“The Everlasting Gaze”), New Order-adjacent alt-pop (“Raindrops + Sunshowers”) and gothic torch songs (“I Of the Morning”). A concept record based around the story of a rock star named Zero (an analog for bandleader Billy Corgan), Machina also brought classic-period drummer Jimmy Chamberlin back behind the kit following a multi-year exodus. Remastered for its 25th anniversary and spread out across two slabs of vinyl.
